In the frame of CO-CLEAN Project, the Municipality of Berane (PP5) completed its energy efficiency intervention in the Municipal Cultural Center.
In particular, the pilot action aimed at replacing the electric heating system of the Municipal Cultural Center with ecological heating from a renewable source - pellet, in order to increase energy efficiency of the public building and reduce costs.
The new plant, which is already fully operational, consists of a 2-boilers wood pellet heating system. It will reduce electricity consumption and will allow a better control and management of the space heating and the system in terms of possible shutting down, as well as energy savings.
The intervention will improve the energy efficiency of the building and will decrease greenhouse gas emissions, responsible for global warming and pollution, in line with EU effort to reduce energy consumption and increase environmental standards of the community.
The CO-CLEAN “Co-designed and implementation of local sustainable energy action” project is funded by the Interreg IPA CBC Italy-Albania-Montenegro Programme 2014/2020. The overall objective of the project is to increase energy efficiency and the use of renewable energies in several public buildings through the implementation of innovative and consolidated actions, training and awareness-raising activities. In this sense, all the pilot actions of the project are inspired by the principles of energy democracy, consistent with EU DIRECTIVE 2018/2001, and aim at creating an energy community composed by active citizens or “prosumers” and SMEs. The other project partners are the Municipality of Brindisi (Lead Partner), the Municipality of Racale, the Consortium for the Industrial Development of the Biferno Valley and the Municipality of Valona.
